The unique combination of Cold Light and findings in the phototherapy across medical disciplines
Light therapy using electroluminescence – can be applied in many medical fields, such as in ophthalmology, in dermatology, neonatology or psychiatry. Therefore you can treat a variety of skin diseases, moderate depressive disorders and help patients with diabetes who are at risk of vision loss.
Technologies of printed cold light can, for example, slow down the progression of diabetic retinopathy which without proper treatment ends by blindness. Special masks emitting cold light demonstrably reduces diabetic macular edema due to high levels of blood sugar. Retinopathy in the Czech Republic suffers from 120,000 patients.
In the center, Photothera Labs is working on research, development, and testing of medical devices developed by ELON Technologies with leading medical capabilities: Prof. MD. Pavel Kuchynka, Ph.D. Department of Ophthamology University Hospital Královské Vinohrady, Prof. MD. Petr Arenberger, MD., MBA from the Department of Dermatology at University Hospital Královské Vinohrady development luminous patches for a variety of skin diseases, doc. MD. Zbyněk Straňák, PhD., MBA from the Institute for Mother and Child in Podolí, Prof. MD. Cyril Höschl, MD. FRCPsych the National Institute of Mental Health in Klecany to treat depressive disorders. As promising looks cooperation with the newly opened International Cannabis and Cannabinoids Institute in Prague.
Electroluminescence was originally used mainly for backlighting display devices or in advertising in the implementation of "light" posters. Gradually the technology begins to find application in health care, which can significantly reduce the cost of treating a variety of deseases or shorten the duration of healing. A number of therapeutic applications are still the subject of research and clinical trials.
On high level equipped center for applied phototherapy near Prague
Technology background of Photothera Labs was built with the support of private investors and European funds. The center is equipped with high-precision screen printing machine Thieme 3030, climate chamber and fully quipped so-called "CLEAN ROOM". Electrical and electronic engineering laboratories for testing and develompment of electronic parts and chemical laboratories for blending polymers for subsequent printing are integral part of the center. Private investors participated in the financing and future support for the introduction of new ways of treatments and have created an environment for their full implementation.
Research and develomplemtn have been launched in late 2016. Also physicians in the fields of psychiatry, dermatology, and diabetology related to development laboratory should be part of the ecosystem later. The plan is to build a comprehensive ecosystem of research, development and subsequent applications of light medical devices in one excellent center with a focus on applied phototherapy.
An integral part of the center is to create a platform for the implementation of Public - Private - Partnership projects in applied medical development.
